As the expression goes, all too often truthfully, Christians are often the only army that shoot their own wounded. We all too often forget things like:
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." - Matthew 5:7.
"Judgment will be merciless to the one who shows no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." - James 2:13.
"Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." - Romans 8:1.
The word 'Gospel' means 'good news.' This doesn't always come across as you listen to many Christians. Jesus felt comfortable around known sinners, and they felt comfortable around Him. Check the Gospels. The only group that Jesus ever blasted was the Pharisees, who happened to be the most religious and pious people of their generation.
Yes, there are rights and wrongs, and 'sin' is more than an ancient concept, but it's not my job to play Holy Spirit and force people to repent. I can show someone else, Christian or non-Christian, the error of his ways ONLY if I can do it in love, with a view to redemption.
But I rant. Good post Dave! You say true, I say thankya.
