I never did and now I am thinking of picking it up and reading it. I need some feedback.

GWTW is an American classic!! READ IT! It's alittle outdated now, what with all the 'N' words floating around in there, but if you want to know what life was like in the South before and during the Civil War, then it's an excellant read. PS- don't bother reading the sequel 'Scarlett', it's a waste of time.

I've read it so many times I've lost count. It's absolutely magnificent.

After you've finished it, don't even think about reading Alexandra Ripley's horrible, ridiculous, appalling sequel. Instead, go find yourself a copy of The Wind Done Gone, Alice Randall's parallel novel. It's brilliant.

I have read Gone With the Wind. Really good book.

I did not care for The Wind Done Gone. I think I loved GWTW so much, everything pales in comparison.

I have but ... it was so long ago, and really I was too young; I didn't understand it. Probably should read it again.

I read it. It is marvelous! Sometime classics just don't hold up over time, but this one does.

The corollary question is...with whom did you identify...Scarlett...or Melanie?

Or you could just take me out back and shoot me now for hijacking the thread.
