I just finished a re-read of Needful Things a week or so ago. Hadn't re-read it since it was first published in 1991. I remember that I didn't really like it all too much back then but really enjoyed it this time around! Lots of dark 'humor' in it. It's always nice to revisit books and the characters within them. Enjoy the book!!

Started Micro by 'Michael Crichton and Richard Preston' last night. Read about 50 pages so far and it isn't reading like a Crichton book to me. It is stated that Crichton was 'well into the writing' of the book when he passed away, but I'm thinking maybe this Preston guy might be the real author. Hope Crichton's 'estate' people don't go the way that the VC Andrews or Robert Ludlum's estate people did and just hire some other author to write 'Crichton' books. I just can't forgive myself for reading Scarlett, the sequel to Gone With The Wind all those years ago!! Let's just say that it didn't live up to the first book.........

I just finished Sleepers by Lorenzo Carcaterra. I finally found a copy of Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons that I plan to start next. I hope I enjoy it as much as many of the members here did! You all were the reason I searched for the book.

Be sure to let us know your thoughts on it, Deb, once you've finished Carrion Comfort!

MsMod, has Steve mentioned any books that he has enjoyed reading lately? He's always spot on with good suggestions.

He was in the office recently and went through the bookcases we have with the ARCs sent by authors and publishers hoping he'll read them for a blurb and pulled out the copy of Breed by Chase Novak and suggested I read it as he thought I'd like it. He's done a review of it--don't think he said where that appeared. He's asked me several times if I've read 50 Shades of Grey as he wanted to know what I thought of that one. He's read it out of curiosity as to what the buzz was about. Meg Gardiner just sent him a copy of her latest book that will be out in July and I'm anxious to hear what he thinks of that one.

    Review on Amazon"
"The best horror novel I've read since Peter Straub's Ghost Story. By turns terrifying and blackly funny, BREED is a total blast." (Stephen King )
