I just finished "One True Thing" by Anna Quindlan. It was very hard to read, and very good.

Started 77 Shadow Street by Koontz last night. There are no extraordinarily talented Golden Retievers in sight! So far, so good.

After finishing "The Mormon People" (Mathew Bowman), I thought I would start "11/22/63" next, but got way-laid, and instead, picked up Candice Millard's "The River of Doubt", which I had bought some time ago, and never had the inclination to begin. What an interesting story, a unique blend of history and adventure. I had previously read "African Game Trails", but had no prior knowledge of Roosevelt's South American odyssey. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, from start to finish, and highly recommend it. The author provides a wealth of information along the way about the country, the river, the expedition and the individuals who were part of it. I guarantee you will consider it time well spent if you decide to read this narrative.

Andrew M Greeley's "Irish Gold." I wanted something fluffy before I nosedived into the first of the Dark Tower series. Also reading "the Alchemyst" and a dictionary of idioms.

Just finished "The Men Who Would Be King", a neat book about the founding of Dreamworks SKG.

I'm about 225 pages into Boy's Life (McCammon), I'm enjoying it.
