Yes, a Twilight fan forum. But, unlike most fanfics, she didn't use the characters from the book. If she had, she would not be allowed to sell them.

I'm not on any twilight forums. I looked it up on wiki....so how accurate it is ???

But I was on a forum for Clan of the Cave Bear, and some of the fanfics there are great.

From what I recall (from the basic, inescapable morning "news" blurbs) the book(s) in question spawned from the Twilight/Meyer website boards.
It looks like you are correct:

Please note that EL James calls her characters "iconic." HA!!

(Okay, I know I shouldn't laugh at one's creative work and I know everyone has different worlds views. [But come on! ICONIC?!?])

If you paint a target like that on yourself, you can't be too surprised when someone points an arrow in your direction. Iconic. Tee hee.

    Iconic?

    She might have meant iconoclastic.

    Fun either way.

You should go ahead and read it. I would if I wasn't so old and had time to read everything LOL!

    Iconoclastic, erotoplastic, abused females fabulastic,
Make the money, get the dough, Sell out all you want, you know,
Filthy tarts, dogs with fleas, you do not have enough knees,

Bleh. Gave up on the instant poetry attempt, but it was off to a decent start.

Couldn't think of any good rhyme with "Rihanna."

    And wery pert.

So things happen when you post before you've read the whole thread. I still can't read it myself. The sample I read was... not to my taste shall we say. Seeing as how I shan't be reading it I'll keep my critiques to myself.. other than to say. GAAAK OH MY EYES! MY POOR EYES AND BRAINS.

Anastasia Grey or Steel whatever? Really? Was O. Mylanta Face-Palm the name of the imaginary editor?

I never got into the Twilight stuff so I am not a target audience to begin with so....
I am sitting here judging her, and she is laughing at me all the way to the bank.
