I think the video is in poor taste. Satire? Coooold dead hand! Seems like the intent is to marginalize gun owners.

Lots of people, gun owners and non-gun owners alike, might find that Mr. Carrey's burlesque of Charlton Heston sticks in their minds when deciding which movie they should see, one with Jim Carrey or one without.

I am sure that Jim Carrey won't lose any sleep over it...he has his money made.

Probably not, but given his involvement with Jenny McCarthy and her anti-vax lunacy, his reasoning skills are more than a little suspect.

    My song for Sandy Hook

What does one make of a tragic event like the Sandy Hook shooting? How can we watch the news and then turn the channel in the hopes of forgetting what was just reported? I for one cannot and will not forget! I read Stephens essay on guns, and his recent piece on gun control, and was taken by something he said about the NRA "counting on it" that we will all eventually forget and move on to other news items.
In dealing with the awful grief of Sandy Hook, I wrote a song and made a video for youtube. The video simply shows the faces of those killed at S.H. Elementary. My wife cannot watch the video, and suggested I use the song with another slideshow. I disagree.
We need to remember. We need to see these faces. Can anyone even remember one of these kids names? Does this video make you uncomfortable? If so...good! It should. I'm so sorry for those kids and their families. I'm sorry I had nothing left to do but write a song and post a video. But there you have it.
Please write your congressman or woman and demand a ban on these awful assault weapons. I did. And I wrote this song. And I used their faces.
I hope you hate it. I do.

Who, Carrey? He's no satirist, just a rubberface.

Completely disagree. He was one of the main writers on "In Living Colour" and had a lengthy stand up career before he got big in movies. Before he got somewhat famous in movie-dom, his stand-up was primarily satire and impressions. Being as comedy is simply varying forms of satire and irony, that plus his comedic career would place Carrey smoothly in the satirist column.

For the record, Charlton Heston was known as Charlton Easton in Greece because his last name means to poop on yourself in Greek... :-)
