This seems like a good as place as any to ask: anyone have any feedback on Joe Lansdale or Michael Koryta? I was thinking of checking both of them out.

I read a Lansdale short story online, but my main exposure to him was the movie version of Bubba Ho-Tep, which I loved...

I highly, highly recommend The Real Frank Zappa Book, FZ's autobiography... hilarious, sarcastic, biting in commentary on society and politics, and ingenious....

Lord, I love's me some Lansdale!!! He doesn't get the recognition that he deserves. You really need to check out his books that feature 'Hap and Leonard', two of the best characters ever created! The books have a great mixture of suspense and humor. He pretty much can write in whatever genre he wants to, be it horror, suspense, westerns. I used to have all of his books but got rid of them when I moved and deeply regret doing so........

Alright. I picked up "The Ridge" by Koryta. I'll give it a go in a couple weeks and see what I think.

I'm almost finished with How Cold the River by Michael Koryta and I've been pleasantly surprised. The story is intriguing but what I enjoy the most is Koryta's prose and pace. He also does well with helping the reader picture the scene.
