    Must be getting close to the announcement. The Swiss Guard is on the move.

    Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina has been elected the next pope. He is the first non-European pope.

    Pope Francis I

    He looks very striking, in the white robes.

    Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

    Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
    Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    where there is injury,pardon;
    where there is doubt, faith;
    where there is despair, hope;
    where there is darkness, light;
    and where there is sadness, joy.

    O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
    to be consoled as to console;
    to be understood as to understand;
    to be loved as to love.
    For it is in giving that we receive;
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
    and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

    Spidey, I had to step out for a few minutes...is that a prayer that he said?

    I'm not Catholic, but it's all been very interesting to me anyway.

    My sister (who is a cloistered nun) must be elated. Her middle name is Francis! And coincidentally, she had chosen the name of Sister Benedict when she took her vows, then the next pope ended up being named Benedict!
