Thanks for the great response! I love the old shows. Ever watch the older 60s show The Outer Limits or its newer 1990s counterpart?

Yep, grew up watching The [original] Outer Limits, The Twilight Zone, and One Step Beyond. I liked some of the TZ and OL remake episodes, too.

I just finished this story last night. That little monkey was evil. EVIL!!! In the edition of Skeleton Crew that I am reading SK gives background on what inspired him to write the stories. (I always enjoy reading about that. Did he always do that or is a new thing?) Anyhoo, he was in New York and some guy was selling these monkeys and they creeped King out. They reminded him of death.

As for the story - if I were grown up Hal, I wouldn't have taken the time to drown the damn thing. No, I would have ripped off the cymbals and burned the monkey up. I kept asking myself, why doesn't he just burn it up?

    He loved animals too much?

I remember I was terrified reading the story. It is one of my favorite ones in this collection, really creepy. Now when I see a monkey toy in a movie or anywhere else, I am scared of it. These things just creep me out.
