I just saw Secret Window on blu-ray (looks great). I like this movie and it's a pretty good adaptation. The ending is changed from the book version (and that's OK) but I thought the characters were very true to the written story. There was a featurette in the special features section that the director talked about working with SK. He said that SK liked the script he wrote and made a couple of suggestions along the way. He said that SK was pretty easy to work with in that regard. SK doesn't want to interfere with what the director wants to do.

The novella is the best format to get a decent movie adaptation from. The 150 or so page count seems to be just right for a movie script.

YES-the ending was the best! I tolerate Johnny Depp mainly for his role in a SK movie, secondly for his involvement with Tim Burton, and also because he drinks red wine during his interviews (almost forgot-he was INCREDIBLE in What's Eating Gilbert Grape!)!! He also narrated a decent documentary on The Doors. I could live without his collaborations with Marilyn Manson-but to each their own!

    I sure don't.
I've loved every movie I've seen him in. Of course, I stay away from films like Public Enemy due to the fact that they probably have gunfire in them.
I couldn't even watch some of his 21 Jump Street episodes b/c of gunfire.
I doubt there's any in Secret Window.
I could watch him all day every day as long as he doesn't play a gun-toting character, whether good or bad.
