Default What is "Carny from Carny"?

Maybe I missed the part of the book where this term is explained.

It seems that "carny from carny" has something to do with someone who has a lot of carnival experience,
but the exact definition of this still escapes me.

    Can anyone explain this?

    Thanks,
    Jake

I think maybe it means second or third generation carny? i.e. you grew up in the carnival atmosphere, your parents worked carnivals, (maybe you did a stint at Joyland?) By the way - isn't this a lovely book? I really enjoyed it very much.

Your name reminds me - I just re-read 11/22/63 a wee while ago and now I'm rereading Under the Dome. I adored 11/22/63

That's right, "carny-from-carny" means that a person comes from a heritage of carnival workers.

    "What's carny-from-carny mean?"
"Means you're like old man Easterbrook. His father worked the carny circuit back in the Dust Bowl days, and his grandfather worked it back when they had a fake Indian show featuring Big Chief Yowlatcha."
