Question The US Government is shutting down?

I`m sorry, I`ve read this article twice in a row and still don`t understand it...how in the hell can the government of the most powerful country in the World just shut down?!
    What does that even mean?!

    Somebody care to elaborate?!
    Thanks.

The entire government isn't shutting down, but there won't be enough money to pay everyone so many services will be curtailed until congress can establish a budget.

Well, I knew America is in financial trouble, but this means -flat out broke, no?
It sounds very strange to me, I don`t think I ever heard of something like this...

No, not that--it's politics as usual and it's those who can least afford to bear the consequences who will have to deal with it. It boils down to that the House of Representatives isn't releasing the money to pay the bills because they want to try to abolish Obamacare and the Senate will not pass the bill with that language included. Not sure if you can get this but here's a link with some explanations of the process.

    Thanks, Marsha.

Oh, I`ll get it, even if takes me reading it very slow and loud. Maybe it`s gonna make more sense then.

Didn't mean "get it" in that way. I was thinking more about links not always working from outside the US so didn't know if that would be one of those.

    Works just fine, thank you.
But, even if you didn`t mean it in "that way", I did.
Takes a lot from an ordinary man to understand all the gibberish they use there to cover up all of their wrongdoings.
