If you keep on doing what you've always done,
You’ll keep on being what you've always been,
Nothing changes unless you make it change.

(This one may have been posted before, I haven't read all pages here, but it is one of my favorites.)

That sure is a hard one to get to stick in my head.

"When the white missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land.
    They said 'Let us pray.'
    We closed our eyes.
When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land."

... The importance of customs, traditions and moral values as a means of regulating behavior is that people behave themselves even if nobody's watching. Police and laws can never replace these restraints on personal conduct so as to produce a civilized society."

These are not necessarily my favorite quotes, but they're pretty darn important ones all the same, I feel.

"Carrie Officially A Doubleday Book. $2,500 Advance Against Royalties. Congrats, Kid - The Future Lies Ahead, Bill." - The telegram William Thompson sent to King in lieu of a phonecall (Uncle Steve had determined he and Aunt Tabby could no longer afford the expense of a phoneline)

"This is worth doing." - Not sure if these are Aunt Tabby's actual words, but whatever it is she said to Uncle Steve (after removing the pages he had tossed into a trashbin in a pique of frustration) forever changed the landscape of American publishing.
