I'm a 54 yr old woman, and I clearly remember reading this approx 30 years ago. I lived in an old building, where the electrics didn't work great. I couldn't put this book down, and lay in bed reading it by my husband's side till the wee small hours of the morning, him snoring beside me. Around 3am, I desperately desperately needed to go to the bathroom, and was TERRIFIED to get out of bed and start switching lights on!!! I woke my husband up before I would go :) I've gone somewhat off Stephen King in the past 10 years or so, but The Dome appealed to me immensely, which made me search all his other works to see what I'm missing (not a lot! just not read yet), and I found my favourite - Salem's Lot!

Impossibly excellent reading of this novel! I've long admired Ron's readings of Elmore Leonard books [and others] but this is a masterpiece. I can only hope to hear McLarty read FIRESTARTER and some of my other King favorites in the future. I have a sizable collection of audiobooks but there are only a handful which I listen to on a regular basis, like listening to a good record album. This reading of 'Salem's Lot is now well up on that list. Highest recommendation.
