Maybe the best King adaptation I've seen...Misery was also fantastic as a film but as I haven't read the book I can't discern its degree of faithfulness. Walken showed great potential in the film and its a shame that he later became such a 'character' actor. Sheen is colorful and fun as Greg Stillson, if a little bloated, as is Herbert Lom as Weizak. I usually despise Mr. Cronenberg in his natural state (obsessed with the disgusting and disturbing) but found he did a capable -- beyond capable, job at 'Dead Zone'. Brooke Adams, however, only annoyed me. There was something very different about her from the Sarah I pictured in the novel and I didn't care for the difference at all. Tom Skerrit in a relatively small part did well and it was good seeing him in a King role again (I had seen him previuously in Desperation in 2005). The final scene was particularly good and it realized my vision of the book almost flawlessly. Bravo, R. King and Mr. Cronenberg. I was also pleased to see that with 'A History of VIolence', Cronenberg returned to a less gory, disturbing style, although that doesn't much relate to King.
