" is desperate he needs money to treat his daughters illness. His last chance is entering a game show called The Running Man where the objective is to elude police and specially trained trackers for a month. " There is no mention of Ben Richards having a daughter! and he is convicted of being the butcher of bakersfield, and no where does it state he has to survive a month! and the reward is a pardon of all crimes comitted! Whoever has written the main plot at the top of this page obviously hasnt seen the movie and therefore has no right to post totally inaccurate information! i apologise if i sound a little angry but the whole point of the movie is Ben Richards innocence of the crime for which he is accused! nothing to do with a daughter and entering the game show as a volunteer to save her life, he is forced into participating!

I LIKE THE FILM (AND BOOK) BECAUSE IT PORTRAYS A CHARACTERISTIC IN THIS CULTURE OF SADISTIC FASCINATION AND GLORIFICATION WITH VIOLENCE & ENTERTAINMENT AT ALL COSTS. tHIS KIND OF THING IS POSSIBLE THE WAY SOCIETY IS DEVOLVING.

The book was amazing, but I almost threw the DVD out my front door after watching the movie. It was the most horrible adaptation of any book I have EVER seen.

AGREED. I would write the screenplay for free, based entirely upon the novel.

I believe it is time for a remake that is more true to the story.

THE best king's story ever, read it in 2 days. Unfortunately the worst adaptation. Hollywood should make a remake.
