Some times I have seen his films first while other times I have had the joy of the Author's notes instead and the best part is to compare productions. I was born in the mid-sixties, in Maine and Stephen King has a craft all his own to some way capture this unique essence and convey it QUITE well I say! Every film or story, I can feel I'm in!! aka Miles Walker.Duma Key bound

One Summer when I lived in a trailer park my friend and I stole my mother's engagement ring from her jewelry box. We joined up with some other friends in the playground (where the best thing to play on was the large section of fiberglass in the corner of the yard) and we decided to play treasure hunt. Our "beach" was the sand at the bottom of the slide. Later, we got bored of the game and did something else. That evening my mother announced to my stepfather and me that her ring was missing. After what seemed like hours of interrogation, I confessed to the crime and my SF dragged me from the trailer to the playground to search for the ring. With a flashlight and perseverance we found the ring, thanks to its sparkling qualities, and we brought the booty back to my mom. My father beat the hell out me. I had black and blue marks all over my back and I had a swollen cheek under my left eye. I didn't really learn my lesson though, since I pirate books, audio and video from a place called Internet.

I have to say the movie was great but the novel took me to far more imaginative place. I could almost smell the woods and hear the old music playing in my head. I really ejoyed this story. I always have since i was about 12 years old. Thank you Mr. King.

It's hard to put into words all the emotions this story, and the movie and especially the song wake in me. I smile and I cry and I laugh every time I watch it or read it, and I do cry every time I hear the song. It's amazing even 20 and plus years later. :)

This has always been one of my favorite stories even before it was adapted into a movie.I thought the actors chosen to play the boys did an excellent job, as did the director, Rob Reiner. I don't know who wrote the screenplay, but they did a good job of following the story line. It brought back some of the memories of my own childhood.

This undoubtedly one of my all time favorites of Stephen King's. I watch it now and again and find a deep affection for each of those charactors. What an ensemble, so much talent there. A beautiful story as well, in a time and place that many of us knew as kids. This is what I love about Stephen King. He touches us with the reality in the stories and the music we all love. Timeless indeed!

I watched it first when I was 13. Now I'm 30 and I still love it. Perfect thing. I wait for my son to be old enough to watch this film together with me.

I had my mother watch this with me, I knew that it was based on "The Body" She had no idea, and we both watched and cried. She was greatly surprised that it was from the work of Stephen King, have loved Stephen King since reading my first book in High School - Night Shift

My son is eight and has two sisters one two yrs old, the other two yrs younger. I watched the boy suffer through countless princess and barbie movies without too much complaint on his part! When the time came I purchased stand by me. I remembered watching it as a child and really diggin it! He did too, although I had forgotten the R rating and the swears. I think it was a kind of secret joke we both got to share that his sisters weren't into. Thank you, if you hadn't written the short story they wouldn't have made it into what it is: a way to clear the room of girls and learn new curse words!lol! I meant to say: escape!

Shawshank is my fav. movie based on a King short story. I remember my brothers loving Stand By Me, so I bought it to share with my husband. He spent the whole movie saying things like, "exactly", "Oh my god, my friends and I were just like that..." He even has a friend he can link to each character. It is now on his best movie list. Is it true? Are all pre-teen boys like this?

Adam Walter the person who commented before me, I agree 100%. Stand By Me is my favorite movie ever! I love it! I'm reading the book now, and a lot of unforgettable lines from the book are in the movie. But it's a shame River Phoenix died so young...R.I.P. But anyway this movie will forever remain in my heart forever. :) And one last thing, I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
