This short story is the oldest of the stories that appear in Night Shift , having originally been published by a magazine in 1970. It's about a textile mill, a drifter, an unscrupulous foreman and nature run amok.

The story started slow for me but I had to continue until the end because I knew it was worth it. And it was!
