Amazon Fishbowl with Bill Maher to interview Stephen King

Amazon.com has announced “Amazon Fishbowl with Bill Maher”—a weekly original series which will stream live on the Amazon.com homepage every Thursday night for 12 weeks beginning June 1. Stephen will be doing an interview for their preview show being recorded this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival. That interview will air on Amazon.com on Tuesday, January 24th to offer customers highlights of the show.

Marvel Dark Tower Update

Stephen and Marvel have decided to push back the launch of the Dark Tower comic books to 2007. "Given the size of the project and all the creative talent involved, I want to give the Marvel series all the room to breathe it needs and deserves," said Stephen. "I've got so much else going on in 2006 - two novels coming out, CELL and LISEY'S STORY, and the work with John Mellencamp on 'Ghost Brothers of Darkland County.' The Marvel series is going to be a blast, and I want to have the time to enjoy it."

The 1st issue of the yet-to-be-named first arc of the Dark Tower comic series will be shipping in February 2007. The last issue of this six-issue series will be shipping in July 2007. The first hardcover collection will be shipping in October 2007.

Marvel Comics to publish Dark Tower Comic Books

Stephen is working with Marvel to produce a series of comic books inspired by and adapted from his Dark Tower novels. The first six issues will appear monthly starting in April 2006 and then will be collected in a hardcover volume published by Marvel in time for the 2006 holidays. The comics will integrate scenes from the novels with new material, creating a linear history of Roland Deschain as a young man.

Weekly Reader Features

Do you remember the Weekly Reader of your childhood? Well, it's still around—and is currently featuring Stephen King in several of its print and online publications. In October, kids throughout the country submitted questions to King. Take a look at his answers. King has also composed the beginning of a spooky serial story for children at The Weekly Writer. Last, but not least, middle and high school magazines Writing and READ will be blogging about their visit to the haunts that have inspired King in his hometown, Bangor, Maine. Look for new blog entries on Stephen King all throughout the week leading up to Halloween.

Scribner Has Announced Publication Schedule

Scribner has announced the following publication schedule for Stephen's forthcoming novels: Cell is to be released in January 24, 2006. Lisey's Story will be released in October 24, 2006.
