I love love love the show. However one detail I can't swallow. When the government bombed it from the outside, they totally flattened all surrounding landscape. All was burned to a crisp, no trees left, anything. So how is it that now, when the insiders look out through the dome, we see regular green landscape. What am I not getting? Anyone have a plausible explanation?

Nice observation! I'm a stickler for continuity and I missed noticing that. Only two weeks have passed since the dome came down so the land should still be barren. The only thing I can think of is maybe the side of the dome that was bombed was the side less populated, with fewer buildings (the army expected the bomb to work). Maybe the outside scenes we're seeing now are on the opposite side of the dome?

I think they showed an overhead shot of the surrounding area where we could see on all sides that the devastation was widespread all arond. I think the military planned to dispose of all witnesses along with the dome itself. I've been thinking a lot about this: either the end of the story will unveil that it was all some kind of illusion, thereby explaining why the outside wasn't really devastated...but that sounds lame even to me. I can't believe the creators of the series just goofed.

I don't remember an overhead shot but I think (I'm not for sure) this scene is from the 7th episode (two episodes after the missile struck the dome). Joe and Norrie lean against the dome to swap some spit and discover they no longer get seizures when they touch the dome (after the missile strike?).

Did you watch that Under the Dome: Inside Chester's Mill special? The actress who plays Julia said, "They're now really cut off from the outside world because everything outside the dome is a wasteland." which might lead one to think the wasteland surrounds the entire dome, BUT! (now that I've sorta kinda proved your point lol) I still think the land on the other side of the dome from the strike wasn't devastated. If the missile couldn't penetrate the dome, surely the dome would have also protected anything on the other side :)
