I watched a really awesome movie a few days ago. The writer was great, because the ending was a surprise in every way. It's a horror story though and it ends on a sad note. I like movies that keep me guessing and sometimes prove my guesses wrong. This one proved EVERY guess incorrect.
It was called 'The Uninvited.'
I agree. I was irritated all the way through at how everything kowtowed to the standard horror tropes, and then it took that turn which binned everything which had had me going "Oh, come on - they wouldn't do that!" Loved it. And even Emily Browning didn't look quite as alien as usual.

I watched Space Cowboys this evening, with Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner and Donald Sutherland. A very entertaining movie about a group of old codgers who get their chance to go to outer space after missing out on it 40 years before. I felt like watching something with James Garner in respect to his recent passing.

I saw CBGB last night. It's a movie about the (in)famous club in NYC. It focused on it's owner, Hilly Kristal, and the punk scene that centered around his club. It was alright. Was hoping for more.
Lots of great bands got started there. How was the soundtrack? Did it feature the likes of Talking Heads, Police, Pretenders, etc.?

Yes, most of the important bands of the punk / new wave / hardcore /college-rock / alternative started or played there at one point or other. The soundtrack was pretty good. Had cuts from Television, Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie, Dead Boys, Patti Smith, Iggy pop, and several others. The Police were featured in the last scene.

CBGB and Boston's Rat Skellar (more affectionately known as "The Rat") were the two central east coast clubs for that scene. Sadly, both are closed. Victims of gentrification :(

Rob Zombies The Lords Of Salem. Very disturbing, images and scenes stick in your mind for some time after viewing. I like Rob Zombie as a filmmaker, but hadn't heard of this one... My girlfriend found it at the library, she hated it. I can only say that it is an effective psychological horror, very different from Zombie's other films. Anyone else seen it?

I've seen Lords of Salem. I own a Blu-Ray copy.

It was very strange and disturbing. I lot of it had me thinking "WTF did I just see?"

I liked it. I'm a fan of Rob's films. This one is very Argento-ish. A change in visual style from his typical Grindhouse approach.

My Cousin Vinnie for the millionth time. Still as hilarious as it was when it was released. Marisa Tomei so deserved her Oscar for that performance.
i love this movie and have watched several times myself.
We actually watched this movie in some political science class my senior year of college! ;-D
