I am doing a re-read of Under the Dome - I forgot how good it was. If they could show it the way Stephen wrote it, instead of how it is now being shown as a TV series, you'd have to put parental controls on it! I am at the scene where they have the grocery riot.

He had put something in there about tweeking and for a second I got it confused with twerking - yikes! :m_shimmy:

Yes it was! It was huge but I read it non-stop for a week and got through it. One of my favorites!

You think yours is huge? I have the "large type" edition - I can barely pick it up with two hands, never mind in the bathtub! :bath:

I sometimes read in the bathtub while soaking in bath salts

I have to admit I'm thoroughly enjoying the series. I started it with an open mind because I knew it was going to be different from the book so I think that has helped with the viewing. I do have a huge itch to read the book again but I am going to resist until they have finished putting onto screen so it doesn't spoil my continued enjoyment.

I know what you mean - I did watch the first season and I did enjoy it, but now that I have done a re-read I'm thinking - ooops - now I have messed up the second season for myself. I am still only half way through Under the Dome and I am reading it slowly so I can savour it. Season two doesn't come out until next summer so maybe by then I'll be okay to watch it.

I really liked the book and have been massively disappointing with the series so far - not even one case of necrophilia! At one point the show was going to be a miniseries in Showtime, and I think that would have been a better avenue so the show-runners could tell a story that resembled the events in the novel. I do watch the show with my wife and she likes it for the most part. I keep telling her to read the novel.

I conldn't get past the first few minutes I mean the cow was as I thought it would be but to have Barbie a murderer and a stranger to the townfolk. Rusty on the outside . I am sorry I stopped watching.
Many were - on the old board there were so many new posts about how appalled everyone was. But - just read the book and if you don't watch the series it is no great loss.

Saying Under the Dome is good is like saying Light in August is good.

I think I need to do a re-read on this one. I thought it was 'meh'--always good characters and dialogue, but it felt bloated to me. My son absolutely loved it, though, and after reading this thread I think maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind :) Plus, I had just read GONE (Michael Grant), and it told a similar story at a faster clip. I remember making some comparisons on Twitter, and Mr. Grant told me to be nice to his friend Mr. King (LOL)
