From the good ol Midwest
Just stopping in between chores to wish you all a happy, healthy, safe and fun day! Hugs to you all! Are any of you having chilly weather way too early? It is getting down into the mid 40's here at night...Grr my girls are wrapping in blankets every morning as they eat breakfast! I hope this early chill isn't a precursor to an early/cold/ugly Winter. Hugs to you all

I had 38F Sunday morning......Even the dog looked disgusted.

I prefer to call it "improving upon the original idea"......

Let us know how it goes! Some Benadryl might help when your skin starts itching from being around all the liberals. ;)
Only got to Yale, and didn’t stay long because of the rain. Loved the old world and new world atmosphere. Most impressive and beautiful campus I’d ever seen. And the smell of money was in the air LOL. Daughter though it might be too pretentious for her and had reservations on the pressure she’d put on herself there.

Sunday weather was nice but my cousin’s partner was asked to help move several boats they had to get out of the water as the marina he’s docked at is being sold, so I helped out. Daughter didn’t mind not getting to see any other colleges on this trip. She thinks now she’d only like to visit college campuses that she applies to, and is accepted at. Since many are waving admission application fees and will put her on preferred scholarship considerations, I think that is the way we’ll go. This week we’ll go over the letters she’s received, and pick about a dozen to apply to. But I’m pulling rank, and am making her apply to Yale. She's nervous about the essay she’d have to write in the application... because it's Yale, so I told her make it in the form of a poem, as that is her strongest form of expression. The worst they could say is no. Only 3.5 hours away and traffic wasn’t bad on the weekend. She’ll have family less than a half an hour away. My cousin told her if she got the chance to go to Yale, and didn’t, she would be missing out on an opportunity of a lifetime. And that she’d be set for life with a degree from Yale. She said my daughter could spend every weekend with them if she wanted to.

And Liberal Land wasn’t so bad after all. Absolutely everyone I met was very friendly (actually more so then where I live), although I found it a bit humorous with their thinking that everything the have to offer is the best there is... anywhere. Trying to understand a Greek take on a New England accent by the marina workers was rather tough though. Just shook my head yes a lot... luckily I know may way around boats. :)

Sounds like a most productive trip and well worth taking the time to go. I'd agree about the Yale opportunity being one too good to pass up on. If she got accepted and absolutely hated it, would she still have the same financial package opportunities to transfer in her sophomore year?

That I don’t know. Personally, I think it would be a risk worth taking.

Happy Monday, all! Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Hope you don't mind me going on a little rant! Well, my poor car is being towed right now from my driveway :( Coming home from school on Friday, the accelerator started acting weird. Going over the bridge and the highway, it was perfectly fine, then driving into town I noticed it started to 'buck up.' When I pressed on the gas, the car would pull back and move very slow. It was very freaky! I was at the Starbucks drive-through, and contemplated if I should park it in the lot. I thought maybe it might pass, but going home it still kept acting like that. I thought I wouldn't even make it to the driveway (or home at all!), but it got up the driveway very slowly! I told my dad about it and he took a look at it. He couldn't even put it in REVERSE on the driveway. The car starts, but no movement. So, it's shot. The tow truck just left...hopefully today they'll see what the problem is! It's just going to be a pain because now my mom has to drive me to school :( I feel bad!

Sounds like transmission, lovey. Spendy to replace, so let's hope it's something that can be fixed.

I just got this beast of a lasagna in the oven-I've been working on it off and on for six hours! I diced all the tomatoes & veggies and made the sauce from scratch from remaining garden produce. I sure hope it's delicious, 'cuz I sure have a mess to clean up!!
Here's a "real life" picture of the beastly lasagna! Hope it tastes good! ;-D
