Wow, man, talk about the subconsciousness.
So, last night, well after 1 AM, I`m laying on the couch, watching a movie ( Heavenly Creatures ), my cat is all snuggled in with me under the blanket...and all of the sudden I hear this whimpering from somewhere.
I was like " What the hell, this isn`t coming from the screen..."
I put my TV on mute, waited 10 seconds - nothing. Started watching again, and after another 30 seconds it starts again and then came a LOUD, LOUD scream from my bedroom, where my wife and my kid sleep.
Dude, I`m faster than lightning, jump from the couch, the kitty also jumped up really scared, I had all the lights on in the house in like a second and a half. I race to the bedroom and there is my wife screaming and kicking, drenched in sweat. Obviously having a nightmare.
So, I sit beside her as gently as I can, as to not scare her even more, I caress her shoulder a bit, then her cheek which is drenched in sweat and I keep calling out her name to wake her up. When she felt my hand on her face, she screamed even louder, but eventually woke up, looked at me and rolled to the other side of the bed.
So, this morning I ask her what the hell did she dream about and she`s all pale in her face and she goes: " What the hell is that Stephen King movie, where they go to find that old woman? "
I`m looking at her in surprise, cause my wife has not read The Stand and never seen the mini series, only glanced at it when I`m watching it, and I watched it the last time over a year ago at least.
I tell her what it is, she then says : " I dreamed about that devil in the movie, the one with the red eyes, who is sometimes human, sometimes not, how he got a hold of me and was dragging me down into some kind of abyss."
" You dreamed Randall Flagg attacked you? Seriously? You don`t even know his name, how is that possible? "
" I don`t know and I don`t wanna know, just the next time you watch ANY kind of horror, especially if it`s based on a SK story, you go to the other bedroom and watch it there. Alone! So I don`t have a chance to see something like that at all."
Well, what can I say, I`m chuckling a bit now about all that, even called her jokingly " Randall Flag fan Number 1 ", :) but it sure wasn`t pleasant. For both of us.
I dreamt about Sai King a few times, but never about his characters.
You have a similar story?

Have a great weekend, my friends. :)

Wow, Srbo, that was one freaky dream your wife had. It is strange how if someone just sees/ glances/ even though not thinking about something they see, it remains in a part of their brain. Then it can easily appear as part of dream/nightmare. Is your wife worried about anything? That may have triggers the memory- Calming vibes for both.

No, Spidey, nothing is really worrying her at the moment. Just usual stuff, nothing hard or creepy.
She hates horrors, she never watches nor reads them, she`s a " The Notebook" kind of woman. :)
Which makes it all the more stranger to me....

Recently saw a show on brain activity and the way we think, perception. Studies show the brain can process an image in as little as 13 milliseconds. It used to be thought 50 milliseconds. It would have taken a blink of an eye as you wife passed the Tv while you watched The Stand for her brain to have captured the image of RF. Hidden away, something triggered that image to a dream last night.

Yes I do have a very similar story actually. I have only started reading the Dark Tower in May this year but last year as I was talking with my boyfriend about crazy dreams I mentionned that when I was 5 I had a lung abscess and that led to terrible fevers and during these fevers I had dreams that have stuck with me ever since as they were so terrifying and vivid. One of them was me walking along a beach all alone when suddenly huge crabs, and I mean absolutely huge crabs came out of the water and attacked me with their claws. My boyfriend was convinced I had to have read the Dark Tower and that I was just winding him up, but nope I had no idea at all about the lobstrosities then.

My sister had nightmares of Zelda from Pet Sematary after she saw the movie when it came out.

I've never had nightmares from any of SK's work. It was Freddy Krueger from the first Nightmare on Elm Street that caused them for me. I still have them from time to time. Had one not that long ago where Freddy trapped me and my dog in an old warehouse. It didn't end well for me or my dog :nightmare:

Wasn't about any villians, but I had another dream about Stephen King the other night. Posted about it in the Cantina...strange dream...Stephen King is much younger and he is standing by a bus...the bus was a detail I left out in the previous telling. He is much younger and honestly, he doesn't look like SK, but I'm standing there, watching, listening, he is answering questions from...the media maybe...Don't notice much else...he has someone else's hair...like I said, he doesn't look like SK, but he is. Then I notice his feet. He's wearing some sort of slipper...or clog, sockless, and his feet are bad. They're bloated, blotchy. And as he answers questions, he slips one foot from a slipper and kinda sorta itches the side of the other foot with these industrial-strength toenails. I was aghast. I think my dream self did a face palm. Why! Why does my favorite writer have bad feet! I couldn't help but look at them...out slips the other foot, toenails big and gnarly, blotchy skin...and I figure, sadly, alas, he must not get enough circulation, sitting behind the desk as he does, churning out stories. The wind was blowing.
