Thanks everyone for the welcome back! Been quite some time since I've been here..lol. Same username I had before. Awesome information from everyone. I also read that King wasn't aware of the title of that episode. The episode was great. Even my son who is 10 could tell the story was by Stephen King mainly..lol. I know, I know....yes I allow my son to watch certain movies by Stephen King. Can't help it, need to share a great author! I would recommend this episode of X-Files to any Stephen King fan. Not as creepy I bet as he originally wrote, but pretty good. Kinda a bummer that Chris Carter changed some of the script. It will be interesting if anyone finds out the answer about that character resembling Stephen King. Pretty creative to say the least...a female version of Stephen King, lol. Hi again to everyone!

I'm certainly not going to judge you for letting a 10 year old watch SK--two of my 7 YO's favorite movies are CHRISTINE and MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE--lol. He first watched them with dad & older sister, but... eh. Not too worried about it :)

LOL...yah..my son loves all the ones you guys just stated. Monty Python is one of his favs. I grew up watching Monty Python...so no permanent damage done...or at least I think..lol!
Kids at his school look at him like he's nutz when he quotes things from Monty Python or does the silly walks..lol. Guess they weren't raised the right way, jk.

No idea but if it was intentional, that would have been something done from Chris Carter's team. This is the first time I'm aware that it's been brought up.

Stephen didn't (consciously) know that until after he'd submitted the script but they decided to leave it as is even though it is a Mexican slang word for intercourse.
It's a Mexican slang word for 'talking'?

What I like to do is to welcome on the Profile Page, leaving a MB post unnecessary for mods to deal with. I know, it's silly. But also, I remember getting the welcome from John that day and how good it made feel.
Yep, I got personal welcomes from quite a few people actually, including John, Sigmund, Cat In A Bag, and Haunted. Very welcoming and an instantly friendly feel to the board.

I loved the X-Files, my favourite episode was the Christmas special with the haunted house (I liked the ones with a comedic edge). I remember the Chinga episode, even made a post on the old board asking if it was in a story collection, turns out it's not. Should be though. He should include his original script before Chris Carter changed it, and just change the names to something like Boulder and Sally.

He had done another one that was completely different that I actually like even better. I think that one was called Molly.

or in other words:
what is a four letter word that also means "intercourse"? Well, let's see there is "f*ck" or "talk" (and sometimes people do both at the same time!)

King wasn't in the episode. Chinga has an interesting history. King originally wrote a script titled Molly which was very different and much more Firestarter-ish. Carter didn't find it scary enough so he wanted changes. King then wrote Chinga, which shares some of the same characters and plot, but should be seen as its own work, not a variation of Molly. I have the first draft of Chinga which is longer and better than the filmed episode. I also have the final draft which, because of Carter's demands, is shorter and less dramatic, but of course closer to the filmed version.
