Just finished I Travel By Night, novella, and found it pretty good..almost time to order another soon running out of new books, have read Swan Song,Boy's Life and Speaks the Nightbird..suggestions on next read?:hmm:
If you're going to read Nightbird, just make sure you have the other books in the series at the ready! You won't be able to sleep without reading the next one!

well I am not sure Danie, while Iiked the other three books I mentioned, nightbird seemed to drag a little, for me at least..of course that is personal preference, but for some reason,i had to restart reading this one several times..not sure if I want to delve back into that character's story again, will have to read the amazon reviews of his other works before deciding.. :grinning:

Yes, everyone has different opinions! I especially liked it, but I'm sure many people wouldn't!

I am anxiously awaiting the fourth in the series. I usually enjoy reading about contemporary times but the history in these books is phenomenal and his characters are so finely drawn,

Just to clarify, there are already four books in the series: Speaks the Nightbird, The Queen of Bedlam, Mister Slaughter, and The Providence Rider. The fifth book, The River of Souls, will be published sometime in the first half of 2014 (no official date has been announced yet).

The Providence Rider is the 4th book in the series. It came out in 2012 (Subterranean Press), I thought it would be in paperback by now?

Unfortunately, there has been no paperback deal for either Mister Slaughter or The Providence Rider yet....

Hey, Hunter! That is a shame. I know the publishing industry is all about numbers and $$, but Rick's got ALOT of fans out there who would like to be able to read his works without having to pay the premium prices that the limiteds cost. Good to see you on here. Have a Merry Christmas, Hunter!!

Thanks! Merry Christmas to you, Dan!

Unfortunately, the publishing industry isn't what it used to be. At all. You're right, there are lots of fans who would love to be able to buy the books in paperback, but the publishers are blind to that. (It appears that no publisher is interested in publishing books in a series that was started by another publisher. Since Pocket still owns the print rights to Speaks the Nightbird and The Queen of Bedlam, no other publisher is interested in the others. And as for Pocket publishing them...well, let's just say that's a long story....)

Looks like I may need to write a very l-o-n-g and NASTY letter to some folks at Pocket, then! I do remember Rick having to fight just to get the first book published (or I might be wrong, I know that he had written a couple of what was termed 'Historical Romances' by a publisher and that they didn't want to touch them). Bastahhhds!

The Five is out in mass-market paperback. Stephen King read it and provided an unsolicited blurb for it, then wrote about it in his "Summer Reading List" for Entertainment Weekly a couple of years ago....

Damn good book.

Hear! Hear!

Loved The Five. I Travel By Night was a delicious setup novella for a very intriguing new character.

Currently re-reading Swan Song - which I have not looked at since its original release. Quite enjoying it though it's not as polished as his other books.
