Not reading this now,but is one of my favorite books,Lone Survivor,by Marcus Luttrell..the story of operation Redwing, and the harrowing account of Marcus' odyssey in attempting to survive..the op commander,Lt Michael Murphy, received the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest award, posthumously for his actions in this incident. The movie will be out Jan 10 2014,and I urge all who can to attend a screening,to try to understand the sacrifices our military folks go through for us..

Lisa Jackson, Tell me. I just started it. I wanted Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, but had to request it......and wait.

I used to read her and I liked her a lot in the beginning but then the stories started to feel the same . . .only the characters were different. I will admit, the girl's got skills when it come to writing the steamy parts.

. . .a few of those lines I read twice . . .

I have liked a few from Jackson..However, I put her book on hold because Dark Places( Gillian Flynn) became available. I am not far into it..but it is a page turner already.

I am reading "The Pearl Harbor Murders" by Max Alan Collins.

This is a novel where the author takes real historical events and real people and creates a fictional story around the real events. The basic story is a murder mystery but it takes place a couple of days before the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the main character in the book is Edgar Rice Burroughs. Burroughs actually lived in Hawaii when the bombing happened and was a war correspondent for a little while (I found this info on Wiki after I started the book because I was curious as to what was fact about Burroughs in the book). This is a great mix of fact and fiction (a little like what SK did with 11-22-63). What I'm really enjoying about the novel is the little details of what life was like in Hawaii at the time and details of Burroughs real personal life. Collins has written a series of these murder books set in different famous historical settings.

Still reading Dr. Sleep. Hope to finish it soon. Its getting real good now (I'm about half way through it). After that I'll probably try and finish I am Legend, not sure though.

Thinking about, when I get some extra cash, buying some Lovecraftian style books. Lovecraft, to me, can be hard to read, but I wonder if modern day folks who write similarly to him would be easier. I really would like to read A Pretty Mouth by Molly Tanzer, but not sure. Anybody out there in SK land like any modern day Lovecraftian writers?
