I just finished Revival yesterday and have been thinking non-stop about the book since I put it down.

I've been a huge Stephen King fan since my parents mistakenly let me read The Stand when I was 12. I made more of an effort to read some of his relatively more recent work a few years ago--Under the Dome, Dr Sleep, From a Buick 8, Revival. These books made me appreciate that he is not just a great writer, but a deep writer. His work really means a lot to me (in addition to creeping me out).

Each time I've finished a book, I've gone on to my wife about the themes, the underlying meanings (I have a grand theory on religion I haven't quite put together yet). She listens and enjoys his books as well, but I thought I would try and give her a break.

Since I'm unlikely to meet Stephen King anytime soon and tell him how great his work is, I figured the next best thing was to try and join a community dedicated to his work. The conversations on this site seem high-quality and friendly, and I'd love to take part.
I understand, here for the same basic reason(no wife, but otherwise just the same). My first was Carrie, age 11, which beat "Are You There God, It's Me, Margret"-ask the wife about that book, I'll bet she'll explain! What really caught my eye was your grand theory. I too study religions, the cultures and conditions that spawned them, and most of all the parellels. Similar to identical beliefs, customs and rituals found worlds away from each other. I hope you'll get in touch, I'd like to hear your theory.

thanks everyone. I work on religious issues for my job, so some of his religious themes stuck out to me, and I can share when I actually think it through.

What is the procedure for posting? I think I saw that the first 100 posts are moderated.

After that, you're on your own. If you stick your foot in your mouth we'll let ya know (I've done it numerous times here- folks ain't shy about jumping ya! :biggrin2:). All we ask is that our members are respectful of each other, our lovely, hard-working Mods and Stephen, as this is his backyard that he has graciously opened for us to play in. I'm sure you'll fit in just fine. Keep posting! Each one brings that count down closer to 'unmoderated'!

I was about to leave a post but saw some people had a spoilers button on their posts to hide spoilers. Is that the policy? How do I use that? Sorry to ask here, I couldn't find the information.
