Hello all! As you all may know, IT was released in, I think 2002, on a double-sided DVD, with its only 'Bonus Feature' being an interactive (i.e. scene selection/play movie) menu, commentary, & subtitles, fairly basic. But now-12 years later, don't you think they could make (Warner Bros.) a reasonable profit if all the necessary features were added? I'm thinking along the lines of outtakes, behind the scenes (Behind the Screams?), original promos, news clips, etc...?

I love bluray! Makes the film much better visually(even when viewing a dvd on a bluray player). You can see lots of things that you normally wouldn't see. Now, if they would just release the original uncut edition of Needful Things.......don't care if it's on dvd or bluray- I just want to see all of the footage that has been cut out over the years!

Absolutely. I'd love to see the original promo clips from ABC included (not to mention the footage clipped off the end of Pt 1 and the beginning of Pt 2).

Ok, so I just realized this week that my copy of IT has Audio Commentary on the DVD (my biggest guilty pleasure) from most of the cast, except Tim Curry, Annette O Toole, and the guy who played Richie Tozier. It was so great to hear how much they all absolutely loved doing the movie. And just like in the story those guys love each other a lot. The commentary was recorded more recently and after them not seeing each other for years, so it was like a high school reunion and there were some hilarious moments and a lot of one liners, giggling and belly laughs. It was great.

I also didn't know that John Ritter badly wanted to be in the movie because he was a massive SK fan. Said that he bought every new book the very day it hit the shelves, just like me. Made me kinda sad though when I remembered he is gone.

If anyone has the Commentary on their DVD I highly recommend it.

Yes, but will it be repackaged as a single sided DVD instead of the double sided version?

Id love for a Blu-Ray version of IT.....I absolutely love this film....Pennywise played by Time Curry does an amazing job...I love the young Bill...played by Jonathan Brandis who passed away too young...and all the other kids in the Lucky 7....I loved the way you see the kids older in their lives and then we see the stories of them as kids in Derry....and the way they would build a Dam down by the river...the young actors in this movie do a great job....I really liked John Ritter in this film....sadly he passed away aswell....Id love to have extra features on a Blu-Ray release like behind the scenes and outtakes aswell...I really hope this happens!

I hate to throw a wet blanket on the idea, but there is some doubt as to whether a reissue would make the film look any better. The only way a Blu-Ray version would improve the look is if the film is completely remastered so that it can take advantage of the clarity. As the technology of the time didn't have to provide superior visual effects, it didn't record it thus. You will often see this effect when you get a Blu-Ray edition of some show made for television (even fairly modern ones). There is a very expensive process which can remaster film to make it step up to Blu-Ray quality. It isn't often used because of the cost to return is prohibitive. In addition, depending upon the medium of the original shooting, it can't do much. Some shows made for television, for example, cannot be improved. Look at the Blu-Ray editions of True Blood or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. These are modern shows of considerable popularity (hence cost prohibitive isn't an issue) whose graphical quality isn't improved at all over a standard DVD. The only thing the Blu-Ray gets you is more special features.

So, if they remastered it and it made a visual difference I might buy it. Or, if the special features added something new and amazing (like audio commentary from King himself) I might do it. Otherwise, the DVD I have still plays the film about as good as it gets.

I'd buy either a DVD or Blu-ray as long as it had the entire movie like it did on VHS. I don't care as much about special features as I do seeing the whole movie. I'm astounded that the DVD has a few extra minutes that were chopped off just because they didn't want to show "to be continued" at the end of Part 1 and opening credits in the first scenes of Part 2.
