Just saw TrollHunter, a Norwegian film, 2010 I think. I didn't go in expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. It's just hard to find a movie anymore that scares me, but I think I can get into a spooky movie more when it has to do with things I am paranormally interested in. Like ghosts or Sasquatch or UFOs. But as a paranormal researcher/writer, one of the main things I have been researching for years is folklore, legends and paranormal beliefs in other countries/regions of the world. I hadn't researched or written about Norway. That is why I think this movie was neat because trolls are one of their paranormal beliefs/folklore.
So the way the movie was presented, the acting and the atmosphere and the spookiness of it were all awesome! Not to mention some of the most amazing scenic shots!
I walked away thinking more about trolls than I ever did walking in. >_>

Cool post . . .I like the way you always get your point across.

I agree the original film was very atmospheric, and scary. A great movie, did you ever play the PlayStation game the film was based on @Lina ? Spooky stuff indeed, especially those blind zombie nurses!

I played the first 4 games on PC. They are great! The second part is one of the best, I guess it would also make a cool movie...

Watched Japanese horror movie Senritsu meikyû (Shock Labyrinth). A group of children of about 10 goes to the house of horrors in the amusement park, there something scary happens and one of them, a girl, dies. 10 years later this girl again appears in their lives, supposedly, to take revenge... I should say I expected more from the creator of The Grudge, I was hoping to see something like The Ring or The Dark Water... But this movie is way more boring and not logical, a lot of things stay unclear. I would say the only advantage of the movie is its 3d effects, they are really great there.

Watched Sucker Punch. A very strange movie... Reminded me a little of Mulholland Dr. I can only say that I loved the soundtrack and Emily Browning playing the main role, she is a good actress. Has anyone seen the movie by any chance? I wonder what you think about it...

I finally watched The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio. I really enjoyed this movie! Never read the book and didn't know anything about it other than it was in the 1920's and that Gatsby was very wealthy. Leo did an excellant job, as always, with his acting. Kind of strange to be hearing Jay Z on the soundtrack but it actually fits the mood of the film. Hey, did anyone happen to catch an uncredited Lady Gaga making her big-budget acting debut? She's there, you gotta look for her tho!

Watched Midnight in Paris. A writer comes to Paris, there he finds himself in the past where he meets his favorite writers - Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald and others. A very good and funny movie with good actors, really worth seeing.

Mud - Matthew McConaughey - Reece Witherspoon

I loved this flick. It takes place in a small town on a river and two boys discover a stranger (McConaughey) camped on a small island. The stranger is on the run and hiding out on the island and is trying to see a woman in town without being seen by people looking for him. He gets the boys to help him. This movie is a bit of a suspense/thriller story as well as being a story of small town life, poverty and about the boy's family life troubles.

I loved it too. I love Matthew's performances, but I thought the kids were amazing.

I watched It 2 weeks ago. Like you, I knew the name but not much else. Loved it!!! But I didn't spot Lady Gaga though... Last week I saw The wolf of Wall street. So much over the top fun! Loved that one too. Also because it's full of T&A and boys will be boys :p

Great movie! This is why I think Matt's going to get the best actor Oscar this year- his work in Mud was amazing, his work in The Paperboy was beyond amazing and his work in his newest Dallas Buyers Club is stupendous! All of these films combined should make him a shoo-in for the award.

Gaga is the crazy looking (duh!) organist at the party scene in the beginning of the film. She also appears alittle later on and is shown to be passed out on the organ.

The Name Of The Rose (1986) Sean Connery - Christian Slater - F. Murray Abraham

A murder mystery in a 14th Century monastery. Not your normal subject matter for a movie and that's part of what makes it so good. Top notch acting and a great story make this one worth seeking out. Christian Slater is probably a teenager in this movie and he is very good as the young monk apprentice. Sean Connery is awesome as usual.

Sucker Punch exemplified all Zach Snyders best and worst traits. The visuals were absolutely awesome, and the content was meretricious. It was misogynistic rubbish, written as if by a teenager off his ritalin who has only ever read comics, full of videogame floozies in fetish clothing, kicking butt in fantasy sequences and being abused in "real world" sequences. Snyder can certainly put fantastic images on screen, but he should never be let near a typewriter - this film features them driving past a sign for "Asylum For The Mentally Insane" - is there another type of insane that I missed?

Just watched 'Dead Snow'. A pretty cool (no pun intended) German zombie flick. A lot of it is set in the snow, which right now is just reminding me how freaking cold it is outside. =/
Anyway looks great in HD, the bright red blood against the angelic white snow has quite an eery effect. Good acting, good plot. Subtitles, but can be found dubbed in English as well. =]
