Yes, she took over raising me after I moved from Pennsylvania to Seattle when I was 15 and then lived with her for the next 4 years. She's 14 years older than me and she pretty much saved my life by letting me move in with her. I owe her a lot! We used to listen to that Stevie Wonder album and Barry White and Earth Wind & Fire and Isaac Hayes and Parliament all the time. I opened her eyes to 'black' music back in the late 70's.

I love Parliament and Funkadelic. That era of funk music (late 60s-mid 70s) was great. There was a mix of rock and soul that was irresistible. Funk had a lot of humor in the lyrics and was the best party music ever. The early Funkadelic albums had guitar player Eddie Hazel and were more rock orientated. My favorite Prince stuff was when he channeled this era.

This song features Eddie Hazel's playing. You have to get past a very bizarre 1 minute intro first ;-D
