In honor of this year's SwiftDog approved Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees:

Peter Wolf was one of the first DJs on Boston's legendary station WBCN (104.1). Along with JJ Jackson. Yes, the JJ Jackson from MTV.

Probably one of my favorite Cars songs. Boston is well represented in this year's nominee class! Personal SwiftDog connection to The Cars. A friend of mine dated Paulia Porizkova's (wife of Ric Ocasek) cousin.

This one was a surprise! Glad to see Bad Brains are getting the respect they deserve. Hugely influential. Oh yeah, there's a connection to The Cars. Rick Ocasek (Cars singer) produced the first Bad Brains album!

Jane's Addiction was one of the most important Alternative bands.

And then there was Pearl Jam! I like the VS. album much better than Ten. But SwiftDog's are weird that way..... I also pretty much hate just about everything PJ did after Vitology :eyebrow:

Do you know how many times I've almost asked you about the Cars?
Three. I don't know why- I guess maybe it's just that they are a Boston band.

This band's induction is long overdue!

It's a well-known fact that the founder of the HoF hates Prog Rock. Genesis was inducted a few years ago and, via public polling, Rush made it in 2013. Both way past their eligibility dates. Yes, ELP, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, Marillion... lots of great Prog artists being ignored by Wenner. Damn shame.

There are lots of bands that deserve to be in that aren't. As you said, it took forever for Rush to get in. Same for Black Sabbath. Prog bands are in a tough spot. People either love it or hate it. I'm not a huge prog fan but I do appreciate the musicianship. It's kind of like jazz in that respect. There are some jazz artists I love (Coltrane, Monk) and others that are a total snooze-fest for me.

Jethro Tull did not make it yet?

Nope. It's a travesty.

The problem is that Jan Wenner basically decides who gets in. And he hates Prog. You should watch his speech for the 2013 induction. The Rush people actually drowned him out. Many of my (lucky) friends were there and they made sure he knew how we felt. When they accepted, Geddy said that it was for the fans. If you've never seen Alex's speech, you really need to. Trust me. ;)

This is so embarrassing!:a11:
I really am listening to this right now because Nickelodeon is on for Alex. He's sound asleep. Full house is on every night at this time and the Olson Twins are singing a rendition of this. No, I don't turn the TV off. It gets worse . . .:facepalm_smiley:
