I agree with everyone else, this one is tough. Unless you're a constant reader it's difficult to get a "happy feeling" afterwards... most endings are dark or solemn, but that's what I love. Maybe you could try Hearts in Atlantis? :indecisiveness: Or perhaps a book set in Castle Rock again.

The beauty in any work of art is that our reaction to it is unique to each of us, for reasons we may not even be aware of. I think of Kings novels, the three that touched me most were, Insomnia, Bag of Bones and Lisey's Story.

I wasn't aware that a book needed to make me feel positive and happy in order for me to enjoy it. I tend to be drawn to the darker stories, because I enjoy the "what if" aspect of life....
I'm sure there are several others, but the only one that I can think of right off the top of my head would be Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.....it left me feeling very happy for Andy and Red in the end.

Oh.....and I wouldn't worry much about her wanting to read another book to be sure she likes SK....she's already hooked, she just needs to confirm the addiction :)
There's an addiction confirmation department around here somewhere...

I feel as if virtually every sK story I've read has ended on a positive note, if in some cases death remains inevitable (Thinner is hard to defend as ending on a positive note; except that the protagonist exacts a certain level of revenge). The main positive thing for me about reading sK stuff is I recognize the voice, and it's that of a personal friend. I like its sound.

I think The Dark Tower series, just because it's is (mainly) set in a different world from ours, which proves to be a great escape from reality when reading them - and who better to create this get-away than Mr. King?

11/22/63 as well for a similar reason. Never in any book I've read have I felt as though I really was a character in the book as I did with 11/22/63! I loved the whole thing from start to end, and it remains to be one of my favourite books by SK. I'm also a huge fan of modern-world History (especially 60's-70's, JFK, Vietnam War etc.) so that made me enjoy the book even more.

Great stuff from King!
