Skeleton Crew Audiobook by Stephen King | Official Publisher Page | Simon & Schuster
Does anyone know anything about this? Is it unabridged ? Is It the Frank Muller version ? I'm dying to know!
I have been sorting all my audio and can tell you a few things regarding your question.
Frank Muller did not always have the exceptional voice, he died with. Well, either that or the audio productions back in the 80's just sucked. I'd say it was a combination of both.
With that being said, don't expect to hear the Frank Muller you love to be heard in his early audio books. His voice is hardly even detectable in his early works as compared to later. Yes, it changed THAT much! His voice was not bad, just not magical as in stories such as "The Talisman" and "Dark Towers."
Frank Muller was the first to record the audio book "Skeleton Crew." First four releases were around 1985
1st Release named, "Skeleton Crew Book One" - 6 Cassettes - 9 Hours (About Half or the stories) - Does not include "Mist."
2nd Release named, "Skeleton Crew Book Two"- 5 Cassettes - 7.5 Hours (The second half of the stories) - Does not include "Mist."
3rd Release - 11 Cassettes - (I'm guessing 16.5 Hours) - Does not include "Mist."
The first 3 releases did not include the story "Mist."
4the Release - 14 Cassettes - Includes the story "Mist."
All of the stories in the first 4 releases were narrated by Frank Muller in his earlier voice.
I have no knowledge of these ever being released on CD.
If I can find a voice sample of one of these, I'll past the link for you.
