I didn't see where anyone has posted about this but, as usual, correct me if I'm wrong
Thought I would share a few little tidbits about the evening.
First and foremost our lovely Mod got a big shout out for her efforts in putting this event together. It was a nice one indeed.
Jim Bishop spoke next and my favorite line was uttered by him "my epitaph will say that I gave Steve King a C+ on his first freshman English paper"
Next up was Mr. King who read some passages from his essay and shared some college day stories about going to see Easy Rider in Boston.
After his talk a few classmates came up on stage and they did a round table discussion with questions from the audience. Some college age kid asked him about the DT series which he deflected as questions were(and should have been)directed at ALL of them.
Stephen also said that 100% of his royalties will go right back to the UMaine small press.
Last but not least, there were 400 pre signed books distributed randomly amongst others available for purchase. (although some people seemed to think this ended up being not so "random". Personally, I have no idea). As may be imagined quite a few people lined up to purchase books after the event. I was going to buy two or three to give it a shot as I had already pre ordered one through UMaine. My friend and her husband bought three, none signed(Stacy if you see this I'm sorry but the whole story must be told! )After that I decided to buy just one. With little to no hope I cracked it open and there was his signature staring back at me. I couldn't believe it!
