I had wanted to get my poster signed and meet him at the Memphis comic con. I had never been to a comic con before and he was my sole reason for going. Alas he was too sick to make it. Another hero I'll never get to let know how much they meant to me. I had so hoped he would beat the brain cancer but that's one of the hardest to beat. He was my favorite horror artist. I followed his work in Swamp Thing, Creepy, House of Secrets, Eerie, and all the Warren mags. His Frankenstein work was a masterpiece. He had just come out with "Cycle of the Werewolf" and considering his problems it is nothing short of miraculous. This hurts. Another childhood hero gone. I didn't have many.

This is such a bummer. He was an amazing artist. I had the good fortune of meeting him in Atlanta late 90's at Dragon Con. He signed several of my comics and I got a great zombie bursting out of the ground print signed by him that is framed in my office to this day. His work with Stephen brought the words to life like no other. Truly one of a kind artist.

Didn't you just get that not too long ago? The only thing I have is my Grant artist edition of Wolves Of The Calla. oh, almost forgot my limited of The Stand! Wish I had all of my Eerie and Creepy comics from back in the day! Sad to see him go.

RIP!

His drawings....at least to me...always emitted a sense of dread and foreboding, which added life to whatever story his drawings were connected to. Imagination is great to have when reading a SK novel, but turning the page and looking a picture that exceeds your imagination is awesome.

BTW...I should have prefaced my previous post and note that I have a bizarre fascination with "eerie" art pieces. My favorite painting (which I have on my wall) is The Scream and for some reason...any photo of the ocean at night leads me to Lovecraftian images of chaos.

No. No, I do not accept this.

Damn it. Berni has been a god to me. I cannot begin to describe what an influence he has been to me...the hours of enjoyment...I just...ah hell. Words fail me. I worshipped the man. For a guy like me, this is like hearing Bowie, Prince, Elvis, The Beatles and The Stones all died in the same plane crash. One of my top five heroes is gone.
