How did they get the cats to behave on set?

Has King or anyone else involved in the production ever given interviews or written about the filming of Sleepwalkers?

I was amazed that they were able to get so many cats to just sit still in one place for a lot of those scenes.

Everyone knows the cliché about how nearly impossible it is to "herd cats." They seemed to have managed to do it for this film.

That is a good question - I wonder how they managed it?

For one of my classes, we had to train a cat to do something to cross over out of dogdom. I taught one of mine to sit, shake, and come when called. Training has come so far that the formerly "untrainable" types have become trainable and the old school methods are becoming obsolete. Horses are a joy to work with. People have had luck with dolphins, whales, monkeys, various fish (you can use a flashlight vs a sound) and mice, birds, etc.
I obviously have no real reason to believe they used these methods in this movie but the training geek in me can't resist sharing these facts!
ETA: this is not my video, not my cat, and not me! Just a great example :)

Thanks for sharing, that was a cool video. I am amazed at how they train animals for movies.
