I had read this book before, years ago, but I just finished "1966 Hearts in Atlantis again and as I finished it, I had chills.
My father was killed in Vietnam during a Medevac rescue mission on July 1st, 1964 when I was almost 4 years old. I grew up as a kid in the 60s, went to college in the late 70's and was sheltered from everything that went on. Since then,I have sought information, lots of it and I have found it. It's taken 53 years of time and in fact, I was lazy in my start, because I was just a regular college kid, then a regular married guy with kids and then a regular business owner.
Reading this shook me, not like "Dispatches" did, but it shook me nonetheless with a lot of information, now in better context.
