I was a huge horror movie fan at a young age, and the one that I remember really scaring me was the original Evil Dead. To me, that one just felt like it was totally out of control and anything could go down. I remember just staring at the screen during the dismemberment scene . . . the sequels got too campy for me, but the original was just crazy at my age. I also remember "The Gates of Hell" by Fulci . . . probably a really bad movie but there was some scenes that made an impression, and John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness as movies that scared me as a kid.

Loved the book, hated the movie. Say Sorry. For me, the movie that remains the scariest for me is one that I don't even remember the title (or much of the storyline, for that matter). What I do remember is that there were these little (about a foot tall?) creatures (?) that were terrorizing a woman in her house. At the end of the movie (all I really remember about the whole thing) they tie a string/rope about ankle level at the top of the stairs, she trips on it, and they come up the stairs and start dragging her down to the basement. She has a camera in her hand (with flash) and she keeps flashing it at them it sort of repels them. But I don't think she made it. Sounds lame....but it scared the bejeezus out of me and gave me nightmares....I hadn't thought of that movie in a long time....great, now I'm going to be afraid to go down the stairs.

My husband and I watched this a couple of weeks ago and those creatures were horrible! Too we can't remember the name of the movie either. We searched through Netflix but can't find it. Hard to look for a movie when you don't know the name... They drug her down the stairs then into what looked like a fireplace. She was reaching and begging for help as they inch her slowly down and out of sight.

Dang it, someone help up! What is the name of that movie?

I'm not sure if that is the one you described . . . that clip is from the Evil Dead remake from earlier this year, and if I read the original post correctly the creatures were small. It is tough to tell here, but that is a full-sized person in the movie. This is an older film, right? I remember my sister being terrified of a very similar movie . . . let me see what I can find out.
