I think that's a fair point to make, that celebrities don't have any automatic authority on social or political issues, even if they're writers. King's essay "Guns," however, is very insightful and stylistically impressive, as much of his nonfiction writing is. I think the whole point of reading (and/or appreciating) the essay, is to assess its merit objectively, as if it were written anonymously. I would argue that it holds up very well, whether you know who wrote it or not, and makes no implications of stereotypes about gun owners. I'd be surprised if it didn't at least provoke thought from a new perspective for most of its readers, so in that way, at least, it's an effective essay.Obviously, I am biased on this issue, but I really don't understand why anyone cares about some celebrity's opinion. Mr King's field is writing excellent books as Ted Nugent's field is making crappy music. I personally couldn't care less what either thinks about guns.
Do you know if it's only available as an E-book? When it first came out years ago I almost bought a Kindle. Now I have an iPad and an account at the library so maybe I will try to order it.I think that's a fair point to make, that celebrities don't have any automatic authority on social or political issues, even if they're writers. As far as I know it's not available as a separate e-book, but you might wanna ask the librarians to see if they can help find you a copy somewhere.Do you know if it's only available as an E-book?
