I love reading all of these messages. Thoughts are with Notaro. I hope all inside and outside are well. I've been doing a deep cleaning of the whole house and am now in the sort and clutter stage. I found an old file marked 'humour' in the back of the filing cabinet. There were the pieces of paper the adults passed around at parties and we kids could never get our hands on. I found it amongst my mothers things after she died. I don't believe my mother was a racist but a lot of those old jokes were! And many were funny. I don't think reading those old things and laughing makes me a racist. At least I hope not! I will certainly not share them. All the rest of the jokes were of a sexual nature and they seem quite blah...my how times have changed.

Only found out the other day my uncle passed away last week,he was in a nursing home and contracted covid-19 in there, funeral was strictly immediate family only as per the new rules. He was the last of my mother's family, I hadn't seen him in several years but I always remember him as being a funny, happy go lucky guy. R.I.P. Maurice. My brother in law's youngest daughter tested positive but she seems to be over the worst of it thank God.
....my sympathies brother man...

....it was inevitable, but nonetheless I am deeply saddened....our Thin Gray Line in Ohio is a wee bit thinner today with the passing of the first member of our Correctional family from CoVid....Officer Dawson was a 33 year veteran of DR&C.......worked Control Center at a sister institution......rest well CO, your shift is done.....

There is a right way, and a wrong way. NZ did it the right way.
WAY TO GO! Actual brains, yay!!!!!
We're very fortunate to be distant and completely surrounded by water. But yes, our current government is doing a really good job of creating the potential for eliminating this virus altogether in New Zealand. (until a vaccine becomes available) I feel very fortunate and thankful.

End of Watch, Officer Dawson. Thank you for your service.

I'm sorry for the loss within your fraternity, Scott. It's tough, I know, and that gets overlaid with overarching concern for the others. Really, I am so sorry.

I had my first assignment yesterday in two and a half weeks. I'm not complaining. Some of my colleagues have not worked for four or five weeks. When the Hunker Down order came through, we had a cancellation rate that could easily be rounded up to 100%.

People are going to get used to videoconferences. We did that yesterday, no one physically present with one another, and there were little bobbles, but overall it went fine. And people didn't have to leave their homes. I'm suspecting that when things return to normal-ish, there's going to be a lot more comfort with remote connections in my corner of the world.

I suspect that in the legal system, there's a logjam building of things that need to get done, and when Socialize Again is issued, it's going to break free, and our workload will go from Near Zero to Inundation. That's just my suspicion. We'll see.

The ultimate societal impacts of this will reach through every strata of community and economy. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it all.

Scott- my sympathies for your fallen co-worker. Please stay as safe as you can. This virus is really hitting the correctional system very hard.
