I am working on it. Just having a hard time figuring out what dimension it is. They go from singing "Hey Jude" to him putting down gold. To the women flipping burgers. It's starting to get interesting though.
Keep with it. It's not typical Stephen King, but it goes in such a great direction. I thought it very different when I first started the series but as each book came along, I was so drawn into Roland's world. I hate to think of what I would have missed if I had just stopped at that book.

Best not to think too much about it to be honest, just go with with it, all the dimensions and stuff all start explaining themselves later in the series. Remember, because of the sheer length of the series, the gunslinger is just like the first 30 or 40 pages of a normal book, the foundations are just about getting set.

Hang in there . . .it's a hard start but about mid way it snags you. It doesn't really feel right in the beginning but you will enjoy it if you just hang in there!

The Gunslinger was (only) the 3rd story I read from King...It & Dreamcatcher the other two...but it is the one that hooked me...The Gunslinger and then The Drawing of the Three...almost over-dosed on his stories thereafter...and I don't recall an intervention...just more of the same-o same-o.

I picked it up really late. I started a few times, but couldn't get past the first few chapters. I only got into it when I read Insomnia, and realized that I would have understood that book better if I had read the DT books. I picked it up then and once I got going, the momentum just started building. Trust me, it gets going, especially when it starts linking to other books you might have already read.

I'm the heretic. I didn't much like THE GUNSLINGER. It was (and is) a tough slog for me from beginning to end, but I have read it a few times. Honestly, pretty much everything you need to know that happened in that book is scene-dropped in the other books. I'm also a nutball about reading ALL of a series, so there you are--lol.

I have to start from the beginning too. It's just not right. My husband got me "Wind Through the Keyhole', years back, but I haven't touched it. As I get further into Roland's world I am so excited to finally get some some of the sayings thrown around the message board and Stephen King's world. I didn't get The Dark Tower references that everyone was saying, however, now I am starting to understand a little. I can't wait to read on!

Is it just me, but I first found this gunslinger good, then disgusting, but now I am thinking of him differently:nudge:and good again. Ping-Pong.
Done with Dark Tower I. Just wondering about some things that I fear won't be answered right away in the next book. Reading on. Now it's got me!
Yes, yes (my precious) onward yet....
