I'm doing a re-read of It and have read about a third of it so far. On page 430 in the Viking edition, right before the section called Derry An Interlude Part 2, I came across this sentence: 'In this Universe there might grow roses that sing.' Was King aware even while writing this massive book that it was going to somehow (the singing rose) tie into his Dark Tower saga? This was written years before The Wastelands came out and where, I believe, but could be wrong, any mention of a singing rose is found. Can anyone answer this mystery?

...the rose is referenced in UR, and Desperation as well...I don't know so much that there's a mystery underlying the concept...it may just be a thought that he used the one time and enjoyed the "sound" of in his mind's "ear"...thereby filing it away in that wonderful brain for future use...

I'd say the concept has been in his mind for a long time. I haven't read IT since I read the DT series. As a matter of fact, I haven't read IT since 1989. I would love to re-read, but I have to keep on trucking where I'm at (Wind Through the Keyhole). I'm pretty determined that I will buy Revival new, though and read it as soon as it's published, if I can get through WTTK by then.
