Apples and oranges. Or oranges and lemons...say the bells of St. Clement's. My first experience with anything King-related was Kubrick's The Shining. Kubrick's. Based on a Stephen King novel. Everyone in the theatre at the time loved it. Never heard a word of complaint. Most, I'd hazard, never read the story. It was probably 26 years later before I read the novel, more than once...and I believe I probably saw the movie again a time or two televised on television. In both the movie and the story I came away with the sense that Jack felt he was a man more sinned against than sinning, a kind of King Lear, blow winds, spout fire, spit rain! And yet some folk believe we have a living Constitution. Go figure.
