Just watched The Omega Man. For those of you who don't know this movie is based on I Am Legend.

I liked it. It's very 70's and Charlton Heston is over the top as always. Despite all that I found it enjoyable. I like it as much as the Will Smith version.

I LOVED and was horrified at the same time by that movie when I was a kid. Anthony Zerbe scared the HELL out of me--he was my personal demon for many years.

If you haven't already seen it, Vincent Price's Last Man on Earth is also based on Matheson's I Am Legend. Good flick!

Yes, I've seen each incarnation and agree that they are all good.

20. Vampire Over London (1952) Even though it stars Bela Lugosi, this is a ZANY movie. (Doesn't it scare you to see that word in a film review?) By today's standards it seems corny but I can see why audiences in the early fifties would have loved this movie-- it's mindless and fun and full of physical comedy. By the way, today is Bela Lugosi's birthday; he was born on October 20, 1882.

25) The Exorcist-everyone's probably seen this one, so nothing to say except that it doesn't really freak me out anymore. Kind of sad.
26) Masters of Horror--two more episodes, including John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns. This was one of the creepiest things I've ever seen (and I love me some creepy!). VERY unsettling. DD#2 and I seriously considered just staying on the sofa bed tonight so neither had to go off alone. For Walking Dead fans, it has Norman Reedus in the main position, with Udo Kier as secondary lead.

20. The Birds
What can be said about Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds that hasn't already been said? It's a classic, and not just some stodgy old "looks good on the shelf" classic, either--it still holds up on its own merits. This time around I was struck by how much the last third of this movie surely influenced the original 1968 "Night of the Living Dead", a masterpiece in its own right, with the apocalyptic siege aspects, the juxtaposition of normal American life against the violence of the normal, the tension of the modern age facing something that just doesn't fit into the plan. And while one might question how much actual damage the beaks of a few thousand birds can do to a human body, there are still gory scenes that are undeniably shocking. What's great about the film is that it's not just a disaster film--Hitchcock gives us great characters with backstories that we're interested in, and we almost forget we're watching a horror movie until it all starts to come down. This isn't the first time I've seen The Birds, but it was the first time I've seen it on Blu Ray on the large screen, and it looked and sounded absolutely amazing.

5 out of 5 stars.

I mentioned this before in that other movie thread but one of the great things about this movie is that absolutely no explanation or motivation for the birds behavior is given or even hinted at. I think that makes the movie even creepier.

15. The Gift (2000)- This movie is more of a thriller, but it does have spooky parts in it! I absolutely loved the film! It has a great cast and interesting story. Thanks morgan for the recommendation :)

16. King Kong (1933)-I enjoyed this a lot! I think that the stop-motion animation is pretty cool--and I can definitely see it being "horror" and exciting at the time. (And Fay Wray is absolutely beautiful!)

22. Rogue (2007) Australia

A river tour in the outback gets stranded on a tiny mud island with a giant croc stalking the stranded tourists. Of course, many of the tourists are dumb and obnoxious and deserve to be eaten. ;-D The movie is a bit familiar but still very good with the added bonus of some beautiful outback scenery. 6/10

HAHA ;-D. They do, indeed! This is a fun movie! I would like to see it again :)

21. Voodoo Man (1944) A man is kidnapping young women so he can transfer their life essence into his long-dead wife. Another Bela Lugosi film which also features John Carradine. You gotta love John Carradine. :smile2: He acted in so many horror films and most of these were pretty bad, especially those made in the latter part of his career. Here's John on the drums in a scene from the movie:
