Great story collection, I like all the stories off it, except The Cat From Hell, I think it doen't quite fit to this collection. My favourites are The New-York Times at Special Bargain Rates, Willa and N. One can say, there's some common theme in this collection: theme of mortality of a man and death at all. Willa, The New-York Times..., The Things They left..., Harvey's Dream - they are all have the one crosscutting theme of death.

Just After Sunset is the most intense and affecting (as opposed to disturbing) short story collection.
The Things They Left Behind gets my vote for No.1 Heartbreaker.

One exception - The Cat from Hell - major bleaugh, despite the 'you had it coming' vibe.
Still a challenge not to upchuck, though. :upset:

I think this is a stunning collection - the stories are superb and as always no matter the weird content are ultimately just about people and their reactions.

The Things They Left Behind struck me very forceably as I think the main character was very vividly drawn, and 9/11 unfolded in front of me when I was lying in bed in a darkened room on a weekday afternoon, all alone with everyone else out at work, recovering from a bout of mental illness so as you can imagine it had quite an inmpact upon me.

N is fascinating and a great depiction of OCD. I have tendancies that was and so the

was compelling because I do this on the way to work. Indeed I did this morning.

Brilliant collection - absolutely loving it and liking the story collections immensly! Could that be as I am getting older my attention span is such that a story collection is more managable for me?

I loved N. Am I the only one who saw some Lovecraftian / Call of Cthulu shadowings in the story?? The way it depicted OCD was fascinating, and I inferred these seemingly normal people suddenly developing OCD with the way people were driven insane by Cthulu in many of Lovecrafts short stories. The story N alone is the reason I joined this group! o_O Maybe its just me, but its good to find others who love Kings work as much as I do!

Hello. No, I don't think it's just you. I would be surprised if this story wasn't partly influenced by Lovecraft's stories.
