Ended up going to bed at 9:30 p.m. as it was dark and there was nothing to do, plus my phone was down to 30% power.
It makes you appreciate the things we take for granted - water
electricity,
a telephone
- we didn't even have a dial tone on the house phone!
(It was just the Garden City/West Kildonan area, as it turned out - I called 311 on my cell phone).
and before the power went out the city was advising people (during the day) not to use tap water for teeth brushing
Turned out it was a 'false positive' test on the city water but they were being over-cautious.
