Serial means this is the first appearance of the story anywhere (in that language). An author sells "first serial rights" the first time a story appears--after that it's a reprint. Bad Little Kid qualifies because it has never before been published in English.

Scribner e and Amazon e indicate that the story first appeared in electronic form from the respective publisher. The other stories have the place where the story first appeared. FDNS = Full Dark, No Stars.
Thanks, Bev! You saved me a call. :smile2:

Thank you for the information, that clears things up. I assume then that the FDNS appearance was just in paperback (don't seem to recall that in the hardcover).

Anyone know anything about "Bad Little Kid?" I assume that is probably a commercial story that is centered in the horror genre, but obviously titles don't mean anything necessarily.

Two questions - first, what was the reason why A FACE IN THE CROWD didn't make this collection? Is it likely to be included in a future collection?

My second question is about UR (not sure if this has been asked yet or not). How many versions of this are there - the 2009 ebook version and now a revised version? Why was it revised and has the revised version been published yet or does the revised version make its first appearance in THE BAZAAR OF BAD DREAMS?

Pretty much like "In the Tall Grass" and "Throttle", "A Face in the Crowd" wasn't included because it was co-written (in this case, alongside Stewart O'Nan). All the tales in Bazaar had to be written only by King.

The revised version of UR will make its first appearence in Bazaar. I believe it was revised to adjust some of the
Dark Tower
elements and/or the stuff about the Kindle device (maybe to make it more updated in comparison to the 2009 version of the gadget).

Well, the story list is officially out and my first impression is I've already read exactly half the stories. But I'm still looking forward to it.

I was hoping for, but not really expecting, to see one or more of his early uncollected tales. I have most of them in some horror anthology or another in book form, or in at least one face, The Night of the Tiger, I've got the original magazine version. But I've gotten book lazy and would like kindle versions.
