So the series is starting the...

Red Dragon story line. The first episode was okay, but I'm interested to see where they go from there.

I actually liked it a lot and I'm very much looking forward to the second half of the season and this story arc. I honestly thought that the first few episodes were boring, so I'm excited to see where it goes. I also thought Richard Armitage was great, especially given that he really had no dialogue.

I've only watched Ep 1 of this season(just finished Season 2 so waiting until it's over and will have a binge session)It confused me though. It looked like at the end of Season 2 Gillian Andersons character was happy to be running off with him but in Ep 1 she's trying to get away. Maybe she didn't really know his true nature? I probably just need to shut up and not wait to binge!

In the first two seasons, she knows about Hannibal being a criminal, but doesn't say anything. She becomes passive as he kills people. From there, she started being controlled by Hannibal.

I'm going to be sorry to see this go.
Not as sorry as I'll be when Alana finally gets carved up. It's bound to happen somewhere near the season's end since Hannibal "always keeps [his] promises". But bloody hell she's lovely. Kind of does Caroline Dhavernas a disservice that most people only mention how good Gillian Anderson looks and acts (though that is also true, and I suppose Hugh and Mads aren't too bad from the ladies' POV. Not that I know about such things (though my gf did look up last night, see Will's missus and go "He could do way better". Sisterhood, eh? :biggrin2:)).
Also, I'm not sure how Hugh Dancy could stay beyond this season in any case, given where we are relative to the books and Hopkins movies.

I'm of mixed minds about the cancellation. This season has dawdled too much and only began to pick up momentum after Hannibal was imprisoned. I've enjoyed the episodes since then and was really hoping the show would at least get up to the point where Clarice meets Hannibal.

They don't have permission to use Clarice's character, which may have been one of the factors that contributed to the show not being renewed.

I never understood why they can use any character except Clarice. They used Will's ex to fill in for her at times, but they really need to use that character again. I can see why a network wouldn't want to make season 4 without the Clarice character.

The TV series wasn't able to license The Silence of the Lambs, only some of the other books.

So they can't use the characters specific to that book? It's odd that they have access to Red Dragon and Hannibal but not the book in between.
