A fourth installment, continuing the adventures of Lisbeth Salander will be published next month. The author is a relative unknown and it is being done with the approval of Steig Larsson's father and brother who own the rights.

There are rumours that Larsson's partner possesses a laptop that holds portions of another book written by the author before his death.

Will you read The Girl in the Spider Web?

I'm going to read it and will my offer judgement from the heights. I know of this author and he can write. The question is if he manages to sink into Salander. she is rather special and if she loses in strength the book will have lost its main figure and probably be bad. But it will sell regardless. And i can understand the reason for another book, there a a few loose threads, like her sister.....? Have no idea if she will play a part but since she started to be mentioned in the third book i have always wondered about her. What happened to her? I hope we will get somekind of answer in this one.

I'll wait to see what others think about the book. I love those books, Ikea furniture and all, and they are special to me. Lisbeth is one of the most interesting characters to ever be brought to life within the pages of a novel. I hope they don't muck it all up! I also don't want to see them go the same route they did after V.C. Andrews passed away- I think there are more books written in her 'name' after her death than what she actually wrote while alive.......

Yeah, I know what you mean. Lisbeth is a wonderful character and I hope they don't change her.

I haven't read any of these novels, but they've been on my list for a while. I was going to ask if they were enjoyable to King readers, but the comments here seem to have answered my question. Good to hear they're worthwhile.

As for unfinished works published by a different author, I didn't mind the ending to "The Wheel of Time", finished by Brandon Sanderson, using Robert Jordan's notes. That was a bit strange, though. Jordan seemed to have been caught up in a common disease of fantasy writers: expandiosis: where more and more plotlines keep getting added without any resolution. It was mostly Sanderson's job to close those plotlines, to which I expect Jordan had at least an idea of where he eventually wanted them to go.

I wasn't aware yet of a fourth installment, but I'll definitely read it. The first three are very good and although I haven't read any works of David Lagercrantz, I trust that the heirs of Stieg Larsson have seen to it that someone was selected that they expect does a decent job.

At Wikipedia I read Mr. Lagercrantz hasn't used any unfinished manuscripts of Mr. Larsson, only taken up unfinished storylines from the published books. So it sounds like we might learn more about Lisbeth's sister.

By the way... My brothers wife is angry at Stieg Larsson. Says he was the founder of this scandinavian noir movement and that it paints scandinavia as a much darker place than it really is with widespread corruption in every level and corpses popping up as soon you go to the store. Tried to calm her by saying he wasn't exactly first that these dark crime books has been around for years in many countries but no success. Stieg Larsson is to blame for making the whole world think scandinavia is a really rotten place. A slight overreaction i thought. (she loves Agatha christie)
